BTGT (Bridging the Gap Together) Education Foundation
has done sufficient action research in the last 6 years; we have done various
research based interventions for mobilization, training and placement of students.
We have attempted to accomplish 3 batches of 25 each in last three years with
the volunteer base now want to scale the solution with private funding. Our sustained placement rate for these
batches is around 70%.
Current project is “Project TCPC of 2017 – Training,
Career Counseling and Placement Cell” for EWS youth of urban slums.
Need: There is a need to co-create and strengthen an eco system to
fill the necessary gaps of youth through effective interventions to connect
them with market sustained placement and income. The eco system could be build
by multiple stakeholders at each level by contributing towards this objective.
Intervention:
We would like to take a humble step by
setting up an Employment Exchange, known as TCPC, which would be hope of
employment for many EWS youth of urban slums.
The
key interventions would be around:
1.
Developing backward linkage with Community School of rehabilitate
colonies/slums.
2.
Engage and provide information to students around various skilling
trades and conduct interventions on life-skills (including Character building)
so that they can sustain in the skills of their interest.
3.
Connect Students to skill providing agencies, governmental, NGO
and private companies engaged in implementation of government schemes.
4.
Do skill assessment of skilled Workers with respect to national
and international skills requirements.
5.
Engage them with team of experts/mentors ( primarily companies,
experienced professionals, volunteers, senior citizen to help them in bridging
the gaps)
6.
Maintain linkages with market/organizations/Industry consortiums
with respect to skills required and the employment opportunities.
7.
Conduct regular market researches both on primary and secondary data
on market requirements.
8.
Provide Career counseling/internship and placement opportunities
to skilled youths.
9.
Do tracking of the placed youth and hand holding as required. (As
many students need help/counseling even after employment)
Pilot/Plan:
Our goal is
yearly sensitize/assist around 1000 candidates from each Employment exchange
set-up.
And our first employment
exchange has been set up in Chandigarh and next would be set up in NCR region.
